The application period for the Tecnimede Open Innovation Competition 2026 is now officially closed, marking the start of the next phase in identifying breakthrough innovations in pharmaceutical technologies.

We would like to thank all the individuals, research groups, startups, and established companies from around the world who submitted their technologies to this year’s edition of the Competition. The diversity and quality of the applications reflect the growing global effort to advance innovation in pharmaceutical technologies.

With the submission period now concluded, the Competition moves into the evaluation phase, which will take place in three stages: Screening, Selection, and Final Event.

What happens next?

The process begins with the Screening stage, during which all applications are reviewed to verify their eligibility and completeness, in accordance with the Competition requirements.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of this stage on 23 March 2026.

Eligible projects will then move forward to the Selection Phase, where a panel of experts from academia, industry, and the pharmaceutical sector – which you can meet [here] – will evaluate the submitted technologies.

Following this process, up to 10 finalist teams will be selected and invited to present their projects at the Final Event, where they will compete for the €100,000 Jorge Ruas Award.

The finalists of the Tecnimede Open Innovation Competition 2026 will be announced on 27 April 2026.
